My story marilyn monroe book review5/10/2023 I definitely agree it’s up there before any biographies. This edition has a new forward by Joshua Greene & it’s beautifullyillustrated with his fathers photographs. So many people try to speak for Marilyn but this is Marilyn’s own words. It’s Marilyn’sautobiography & poignantly recounts her childhood as an unwanted orphan, herearly adolescence, her rise in the film industry from bit player tocelebrity, and her marriage to Joe DiMaggio. including story approval, director approval, and cinematographer. The book is exciting but misses some of her best triumphs, it is a great ground work for understanding her backgrounding and giving context to her as an artist and person. Marilyn Monroe started her own film studio Despite being cast in a myriad of ditzy. Marilyn was the first celebrity to speak candidly about SA and neglect. It is an interesting read especially in the context of it's time when victim blaming and the label of "damaged goods" was prevalent However many important points in it are recounted by Marilyn in other places. The book wouldn't be published until over 10 years after her death, It leaves at her marriage to Joe DiMaggio when she abandoned the project. My Story is the unfinished autobiography ghost Written by Ben Hecht in which Marilyn conversationally recounts her childhood and rise to fame.
